Portfolio

My name is Stephen Kim. I'm a software developer, amateur game dev, art hobbyist, foodie, coffee lover, and cat dad.
I worked at Amazon for 4.5 years in the Financial Foundation department, growing from intern (2021) to Software Developer (2022–2024) to Software Developer II (2025–2026). I led and worked on full-stack internal web applications (React, JavaScript, TypeScript) and developer-facing backend invoicing and payment REST APIs (AWS, Java, Kotlin, Smithy). Day to day, I collaborated with principal and senior developers, UX designers, and product managers. I was a point of contact for external business onboardings, handled on-call, served as scrum master, ran sprint planning, authored design documents, and mentored new interns and engineers.
I decided to move on from big tech and explore opportunities in other areas. One path I'm pursuing is freelance software development: I'm currently working with a non-profit dental organization to build a custom desktop application (Java, JavaFX, AWS) reducing the hours of manual operations. I'm also working toward my lifelong dream of developing my own roguelike dungeon game (Godot), without the use of AI. For fun, I review delicious food in Los Angeles, creating art, and spending more time with the people (and cats) I love.
If anything I do interests you, feel free to contact me or view my resume.
